The basis for this reading is taken from 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and forgive their sins and heal their land.” This verse is the reason the Bible is read each year on July 14 at 7:14 a.m. Kelly Bruner Moore appeared before the county commissioners in June and received approval to hold the event at the courthouse.
