TO ALL GEORGIANS.
To tlie Association of Urtitbd confed
erate Veterans and all inlerefctedin the
reunion in the city of Atlanta, Ga.,
July '2O-23 next.
During the aeunion of ISO? in. the
city of Nashville, of the United Confed
erate Veterans, the mayor of Atlanta
the Hon- Charles A. Collier, with the
hearty coucutence of the council,ana
of all the people of Atlanta, extended,
through General Evans, an invitation
to hold the eighth annual rettuion in
Atlanta
This invitation was forcibly empbr.
sized by addresses tin the part of Giin
eral Evans, Hon. T. R. R, Cobd, And
Col. A. J West, and by a most fiat
teritg vote tile invitation was accepted.
Under a call from Gener&l EviVns,
Commander of the Georgia bivision
United Confederate Veterans, a
number of enthusiastic citizens of
Atlanta assembled a Confederate Re
union Association, with Gen. Clement
A. Evans as president, W. A- Hemp
hill it ltd others as vice presidents, and
John 0. Waddell as secretary. They
are all battle scarred veterans, having,
served from the opening to the closing
of hostilities*
Under this organization all neces
sary committees have been appointed
and are actively at work, with the
fixed pur pos to make the occasion the
fullest aud most enjoyoßble eV6r held
by the gloiioua old heroes who will
honor the occasion by their presence.
These assembled nos!9 of
wih bo Georgias guests, and while
Atlanyi, the caital city, war selected
as tne place; this was clue maihly to
the fact toi its accessibility to tee
gr atest number who will attend, and
h,'cause for a long time it was the ecn
ter of operations in this part of tho
Confederacy
To the people of Gcorg*a we dc
sire to say that large contribution* iu
money and sitpji'ies will be required
to entertain our visitors in a manner
which Alley have a right to expect,
and which will be creditable lo the
state. It is proposed to raise the
bulk of the liidiiey needed in this
city, but Wts krloiV IH.-re are thous

address the people of Hanks county
during the noon recess of court.
Col. Nesbitt lias been < ommissioifer

Mr. Nesbitt’s friends in Ibis section

the Georgia division, and clrtirnVen
of the commissary committee of
this association, will have charge of
this feature of the reunion, and at
the proper time lie will issue an 3|>
pert*, to the people of the state.
Tt is proper to give the main reas
ons for fixing on Exposition I’ark
ns tne place for holding the reunion-
Tiiah place was selected because it
\Vns a necessity. No other palace in
the city offered advantages approach
ing those which existed at tr.q park-.
The sixteen divisions, the oommis-
SAry department, the hundreds of
Kofi* of Veterans and Daughters of
the 'Confederacy all can be assembled
there in a space occupying less than
fifty acres of land, and thus afford
the pleasure of social intercourse tfd;
much enjoyed by veterans.
The street car company has en
tered into an agreement’ whereby
vditors from every section of the
city will be carried to the park for
one fare—five cents, fnr.toiei of ex
tra expense to our visitors, the sheet
iiig at tlie park will be more cobnoiu
teal thart if held in the city. In ad

Exposition Dark, the committee Ims 1
arranged for ail available buildings
m the r'tv. ft has done this with
a view to contributing both to the
comfort, business, convenience and
enjoyment of our visitor 4.
This explanation is not neccesaarv
in Atlanta, {Si our people are not
divided, lmt we think it proper to
say- this much because of tne errone
011s impressions which have gone
abroad growing out of incorrect news
naper reports. Our people are
