COUNT* LINK LOCATED.
The county line between Banks
and Habersham which has beea en.
gaging the rnindH of the people for
several weeks has been located. The
original historic Wofford trail whijh
runs from so ne point in Bartow conn
ty into South Carolina which jwas the
line between Banks and Habersham
at the lime Banks county was first
made will remain the line. “N Trows,”
a j oxt office in the neighborhood of
Judge Bill Moss’s was a staring point
in the re-cstablishment of the new
line. Beginning at this point and
running west miles we touch Bald
win. We learn from Judge Hill that
at Baldwin the line established falls
about 400 yards south of line formerly
claimed i y the citizens ol th s flour
ishing little town. At Baldwin we
the stores of Shore & Lewis : nd Shore
& Coggins. The famous Barrel, which
is empty, was also kst to Banks. We
gain the residence of Mr. Thomas,
Mr. Grant and Mr Martin L aving
Baldwin the original line seems to
have run north of line recognized for
the past few years. When we re ch
Alto we cross the Southern railway
gaining the store of Grant & Cos., the
depot, a saloon, and retainirg as a
citizen Capt Howell, the popular de.
pot agent Southern Railw y.
From Alto the original Wofford ir ll
was re established as the line thecce
to the Hall and Habersham line. If
nothing gained, if nothing lost, the
people of that section will have tie
satisfaction of knowing where tLey
are at.”

The Woman’s Cos operative asso

This effort deserves and should re

every good < itizen. A public meeting
to promote it was held a few days ago
at which much interest was manifested
and substantial pledges of support
were given.
Atlanta has become famous for her
charitable institutions. She can win
no fairer’fame. To our hospitals, our
Sheltering Arms, our Florence Crit
tenlon Home, and our many other
institutions erected and maintained
by kind hearts for the benefit of suf
fering and unfortunate humanity, let
us add the home for working worot n
which the Woman’s Co-operative as
sociation has undertaken to build
By the plan which these good women
hive alopted SI,OOO will secure a
perpetual admission. One ) undred
and fifty dollais admits ene beneficiary

$5 a year, payable annually or semi

bers ire 25 cents a month.
We beliete that there aie many
men and wemen in Atlanta who will
come to the suppi tit of the home on
one of these plans. The women who
are actively interested in this move
ment will not recognize the possibility
of tailure. Their hearts are fired and
their hands are busy in this noble
cause. The liberal and fckivalrous
men of Atianta will come to their aid
and see that their effort are not iti

To prevent an ingrowing nail a strip
of cot ton should be worked between the
nail and the flesh, left large enough to
cover the entire nail A piece cf cotton
is then twisted into a long roll and
placed on the other side of the nail

between is filled with lead nitrate,

nail can be seen, and cotton inserted
between it and the flesh beneath, when
the nitrate can be discontinued.

IT IS ALL ABOUT COTTON.
Mu. Editor : As I see so much
advice to farmers I thought I would
write a few lines. It is all about cob
ton. I will adnpt that cotton is a
great ruin to southern farmers. Too
much trust in cotton- Yes, if we
would raise our bread and meat at
ihorne and vegetables in abundance
and stock and cattle to trade tor mon
ey wc would have a better time in our
land and I long to see the time when
our land holders and men who are able
willpraitice these things. We put
too much trust in cotton, We should
lay dowr. cotton anil look to other
things foe a support and have cotton
for t, surplus.
Now let us lav aside tome of our
sins and some of that malice "and
hatred and strife and look to God f.,r
for our help and strength and not so
much to ourselves and to the govern
ment. If you will uolite when you
meet most cf our men they will speak
to you and say, with an oath, what
about this weather, [and these hard
times? And you will go on and meet
another drunk,and cursing hard times
and merchants. You meet some that
they can’t, pay tlielr debts, and they
have money to by whisky and tobacco
and ride on excursion trains and so on
and be is crying “hard times.” Now
let us all take the words of the psalm
ist David: “I thought on my ways
and turned my feet,” and do that. If
we will ask God to reign in the hearts
of our presiding officers and law mak
ers that will make ourgovenneut bet
ter, and if we will trust God and wor
ship him as our God and as the God
and the only God that will make bet
ter times every way. 1 will close; If
is printed 1 may write again.

HABIT-
T.iere is a gnat deal of moaning m
the word habit. Every body has
learned this from sad experience.
The word itself signifies to have, to
hold to possess. So when oe has
formed a habit they have come into
possession ol something, that posses

that he who lias a habit is not free.
Freedom decreases, as habits multip y
Education has been defined as being
self possession. If lids is true no
man who has a habit is educated. The
freer one is from habit the more high

may he temporary possessions. One
can lav aside lialuts, but it is bard to
do. And some are harder to quit
than others. From these observations
wo should learn to form uo bad habit

How 1 1 be Handsome
Many very plain people grow to be

From the field of war I come,

Will you kiss me welcome home
Love to thee ?
I am only skin and bones,
All my sweetest songs are groans,
Aud I’m full of army prunes
As can be.
O! I got it in the neck,
Sweet Marie.
I am but a battered wreck,
Don’t you sec ?
In the rain and mud I slept
While the very heavenj wept
And the b tzzard vigils kept
Over me.
When I ’listed I was fat,
Sweet Marie,
Neuor was a Thomas cat
Spry as me
I could lilt a barrel of beer,
I couhl run like a deer
Andlhers never was a tear
In my eve.
Now I’m thinner than aghist,
Sweet Marie,
You could make a bitching post
out of me,
Every joint tliatx in my frame

O ! Gehenna was no name
For the spree.
Now I’ui with you once agaiu
Sweet Marie,
Though you s' em not to iden-

Now that I’m on my feet
And will have a chance to eat
I’ll accumulate more meat

Now I’ll live almighty high,
And will soon be as spry
