The Fourth National Hank, of
Atlanta, has purchased the poor
farm from Banks county, paying
$5,000 for it. This is part pay
ruent of that borrowed money that
has cn used so much trouble.
Mrs. Nora Haynes, of Hall coun
ty, daughter of Mr. T. M. Patton,
of Bel!too. wm. committed to. State
sanatorium for the insane at
Milledgeville hist week. She has
suit red with pcllegra for some time
and it is thought that the derange
ment ol her mind was caused by
the disease.

The cotton receipts of Commerce,
are piling up day by day. The re
ceipts from wagons to date are 8,.'!(!!)
bales, against 7>,.'578 last: year. The
total receipts last year were 15,500
bales. It. is estimated that 20,000
bales will lie received from tin* pres
ent crop.
In the mayor’s court at Dawson,
It. b. Bobbett, from Greensboro, N.
C., was convicted of keeping on band
intoxicating liquors for illegal sale
and fined SSO or sixty days on Hie
streets. He was also bound over un
der S2OO bond to the state courts.
When arrested on the street he had a
suitcase and grip filled with Casks ol
liquor.
A pure food campaign calculated to
supervise every store in Savannah and
guarantee to Hie people the purity of
every article that goes on the table
was inaugurated in that city by the
health department. It Is the first de
cisive step the health officials have
taken in this direction.
New Railroad Asks Charter.
The I.ithonia and Arabia Mountain
Railway company lias applied for a
charter. The road is to run from
I.ithonia to Arabia Mountain. The
capital stcok mentioned is $60,000. .1

Duvall Loses Life On Hunting Trip
AV. .7. Duvall, a prominent young
man 20 years- old of Almond, ('.
was accidentally shot and killed by a
companion named Raper. Duval
was operating a shuttle Idock mill at
Wilscot. nine miles east of Minera
Bluff, Ga. Running out, of material
for work in the mill, the young man
decided to go out rabbit hunting. His
remains were sent to his home at Al
mond.

The Baldwin county corn show will
be held on October 27). A splendid
list of prizes has been provided foi

Big Red Pox killed.
R. A. Palmer, a rural route carrier j
killed a very large red fox near Dub
lin, Ga., after a nine-hour chase. The \
fox was the largest seen in many:
years, being about 25 pounds In
weight. The fox was chased with a
pack of ten hounds, and was caught'
in the lower edge of ths count/.
