Said Shiftless Sam: “It is easy
enough to make money if you have
money to make it wi th. I see chances
every day to make money if I only
had a little stake to start with, but a
fellow that has no capitol dosen’t
have a fair shake in this word.”
Said the Wise Old Owl: “You
never will have a stake until you
start. Stop your spending and try
saving. Pinch out a little of your
earning and start a bank account no
matter how small. Add to it- The
longer you put it off the longer oppor

Air Castles
Air castles are like the Irishman’s idea about riding
in an air ship. H<* said: “IJegorra, I don’t care how
high they go wid me so long as I keep one loot on the
ground.”
•
It's the same w ith building your castles in the air.
" hen tempted by big dividends and get rich-quick invest
ments, keep one foot on the ground—both would be better.
Standing at the gateway between air castles and slow but
ure investments, stick to the good old mother earth. Un
til you do invest, your money will lie safe in our bank.

ADVANTAGES OF RYE.
Tha London Lancet saya
there Is little difference be
tween wheat and rye. In nutri
tive value, but that rye keeps
longer and Is more laxative.
Examination of the cell of rye
under the microscope shows It
te be smaller and to have a
finer cellulose covering ap
proaching that of rice, thus
making It more easily digested.
Whole rye flakes, little cooked,
are easily digested, form a com

“PLAIN WATER AND A
BRUSH” FOR TEETH.
Recently I called attention to
the injurious character of many
tooth powders, on account of
the fact that they contain crys
tals of lime that gradually
scour the enamel from the
teeth. Now Dr. C. N. Johnson,
dentist, of Chicago, says that
“Plain water and a brush are
all that Is necessary for the
proper care of the teeth. The
average person uses a tooth
brush too much and rube off the
enamel from the teeth.” The
particles of food always remain
ing in the teeth after a meal
should be removed, and the best
way to do this is to use a sim
ple antiseptic mouth wash with
a tooth brush and water.
