A Wise Old Owl
Said Shiftless Sam: “It is easy
enough to make money if you have
money to make it wi th. I see chances
every day to make money if I only
had a little stake to start with, but a
fellow that has no capitol dosen’t
have a fair shake in this word.”
Said the Wise Old Owl: “You
never will have a stake until you
start. Stop your spending and try
saving. Pinch out a little of your
earning and start a bank account no
matter how small. Add to it- The
longer you put it off the longer oppor
tunity will give you the cold shoul
der.” Which one was right, Sam or
the Owl?

Air Castles
Air castles are like the Irishman’s idea about riding
in an air ship, lie said: “Begorra, I don’t care how
high they go wid me so long as I keep one foot on the
ground.”
ft’s the same with building your castles in the air.
When tempted by big dividends and get-rich quick invest
inents, keep one foot on t he ground—both would be letter.
Standing at the gateway between air castles and slow but
ure investments, stick to the good old mother earth. Un
til yon do invest, your money will Ik- safe in our bank.

Concentration Pays
The stream flows along steadily, its waters are placid, its flow un
i n ten up ted. It may lie majestic enough but its power is not used.
Hut put in a big dam, let the water accumulate, that the power is
at command. The same waters How down the stream but by con
eeutration the power is developed
It is the same with money. Single dollars floating around will
never control big deals, yet concentrated in a bank their power is
developed. They aid new enterprises, give energy aud stability of
business, become anew power in the business world, aud yet like
the water in the stream their How is not interrupted. The money
is sulyect to the depositor’s cheek. Help us make this a stronger
blit. You will share in the benefit.

What promised to be an interest
ing road defaulters case came to a
very abrupt end Saturday morning
before Judge Hill. J. H. Pool
had returned Homer Purcell for
non-compliance with the road law,
in other words Pool claimed that
Purcell would neither work nor
pay. When the parties appeared
before the Judge Purcell decided to
pay the tax of #2.00 and Pool’s
cost, 35c. Pool walked to town 8
miles and got 35c for his hike.
Purcell rode the 11 miles from his
