Messrs. Benson Danison uni
Fieeman Pool sent samples oftheir
oats to Homer this week to show
the boys that they had the goods.
F’reeman beat Ben son a few inches
and the heads were large!. But
when it comes to work or play a
lean man can always get ahead of
a fat man. But if Benson raised
his oats with his own labor he do
serves more credit than Freeman, |
for fat men generally cares but I
little for work, infact they are very !
much averse to >t. However if
they have many acres like the sam j
pies sent, their horses and mules'
will be glad.

New Light on Socrates.
The misunderstanding of words fr*
fluently causes strange answers. A
child who had been taught that Soc
rates had a wife who was unpleasant
to him. and that the great philosopher
drank hemlock, when asked the cause
of his death, replied: “Socrates died
bvm an overdose of v.ed'ocA.”
Quiet Enough, but—
When an Irishman was fined for be
ing drunk at Tallaght, County Dublin,
the chairman asked if the man was
quiet at the time of the offense. A
Constable—“ Yes, your worship. He
had ume of his clothes off and was
laying hiß prayers on the roadside. He
thought he was going to bed.”
