If Hr. L. O. Hardman had start ed in like Hoke Smith did in his first campaign, one year before the primary, he would have swept the state in a manner that would have brought tears to the eyes of the other candidates. But the people know him better now and the time will come when he will lx* crowned with the honor he deserves. Wilson and Bryan are now praised by all parties in the Uni ted States for their farsightedness in the Mexican artair which saved this country the fate of Europe. We are at peace while the rest of the world is at war—lhauks to the statesmuhship of Wilson and Bryan that quieted the jingoism of this country. R. R. Meeting in Homer About fifty |M“opU* met in the court house Wednesday afternoon lor the purpose of forming plans whereby a survey cm be made of the proposed railroad he tween hula and Homer. Col. Oscar I trow n and Civil Engineer I). G. Zeigler exp’ained the object ot the meeting and laid the plan lielo'e them. Two hundred dollars, of the #400.00 necessary to do the survey lug, has been raised and it is thought that the territory along the line and Lula will raise the other #200.b0 There are capitalists standing ready to put the road through if if can lie proven to them that it vdl pay the operating expenses .ml interest on the money they 111 iSt. There is only one way to do this, and that is to get the survey made, an estimate of the cost of rails, ties and labor of putting them down, also an estimate of the resources of the territory the road will servo. When this is secured, and sub milted, we have good reason to believe shat work on the road will bceiii at an early date. Mr. Zeighr proposes ,o do this work for a reasonable price and as sist us in any way possible to get the work under way. Another meeting is lieing held in Lula to day when the remaining #200.00 is e\pie ted to Ik* raised.
