The Vienna Public School closed last
night after a very successful term and
the closing exercises which were ren
dered Thursday night, Friday afternoon
and Friday nigiit were attended by
large crowds, many of whom were from
neighboring towns. The pupils all
acted their parts on the programme in
a very creditable manner, some being
applaiidod liberally throughout the ex
ercises. Now that it is all over let
everybody pull for a better school this
fall.
The announcement of the marriage
of Miss Zeph Carroll of Unadilla, at the
home of her father Mr. J. R. Carroll,
to Mr. R. H. Harmon, of Chipley, Ga.,
which Ib to take place next Wednesday
evening at 8:30 o’clock, lias been re
ceived in this city as being one of the
events of the season in oiir neighboring
city. Miss Carroll is one «f Unadilla’s
most popular young ladies, and the
groom-to-be is a prominent young bus
iness man in his home town. The News
extends congratulations in advance.

As the news from this place has been
forgotten for some time I will try to
write again.
The crops are doing well after a nice
rain, whice was much needed.
Mr. Homer Watson of Emerich. visit
ed his sister, Mrs. W. E. Calhoun Sun
day.
Our school will close next Friday for
the spring. Miss Gunn is due a great
deal of credit for the skillful manage
ment of her school,
Miss Maggie Brown and brother,
Willie, visited the family of Judge
Jno. H. Calhoun Sunday.
A large number of our young people
attended preaching at Smyrna Sunday
It is rumored that John and Bunk
have mixed their bees with lightening
bugs so they can work at night. Their
success is wonderful.
Richard Singletary was in our midst
lost Tuesday.
Raymond Calhoun and J. J, Taylor
went fishing and succeeded in catching
about thirty pounds.
As the waste basket may receive this

M. P. Hall and W. F. George, all of
Dooly county, slid state; Ed Howell and
D. Ci Lee, of Geneva county, state of
Alabama, respectfully shows:
(1) Petitioners desire for themselves/
their associates, successors and assigns, to
be incorporated as a body politic and
corporate under the name of
‘ VIENN A COTTON OIL COMPANY'
and by that name to sue and he sued,
transact all business as hereinafter prayed,
have and use a common sealf make con
tracts, borrow money, and create such
evidences of debt as the corporation may
desire, and secure the same by mortgage,
deed, deed of trust, or other securities
upon its property and franchises or any
part thereof; to buy, lease, or rent, own
and sell real estate and personal property
of every description; and to have and
exercise ail such other powers ns are
specified by the laws of Georgia, and as
may be necessary to carry out the pur
pose of this incorporation.
(2) The objects otsaid corporation and
the particular business to be carried on
are to manufacture, buy and sell at
wholesale and retail from cotton seed, oil,
meal, lint, hulls, stock-feed and fettfhzers
of every description; to refine oil, buy and
sell cotton seed, and fertilizers; to oper
ate cotton ginneries; and in general to
conduct the business of a cotton seed oil
mill, and the manufacture and sale of
fertilizers and merchandise incident
tnereto. - .
(3) The principal office and place of
business ot said corporation shall be In the
town of Vienna, Dooly county, Georgia;
but the petitioners desire the right to es
tablish branch offices, factoiies, places of
business, seed houses and scales at such ',
other places as said corporation may wish, j
(4) l'he capital stock of said-company
to be actually paid in is $4o,ooo.oo,^divld-
ed into shares ot $ 100,00 each, and peti
tioners ask the privilege ot increasing the
same at any time to any amount not ex
ceeding $250,000.00. , Petitioners ask that
the subscriptions to the capital stock may
be paid in any kind of property that the
corporation is authorized to deal in. No
stockholder in said company shall be
bonnd in his individual capacity for the
contract or debt of the company beyond
the amount of his unpaid subscription to
its capital stock.
(5) Petitioners pray that they may be
granted the right to make all proper rules,
constitutions and by-laws, and alter the
same at pleasure; also that they have the'
power to elect suen directors, officers and
agents as they see fit. The period of said
incorporation shall be twenty years, with
the privilege of renewal as provided by
law.
(6J They pray for authority to accept
[ amendments to their charter from time
to time,whether fundamental or otherwise,
bv an affirmative vote of a majority of the
entire stock then outstanding and by like
vote to sell out the whole ot their property
for cash or other valuable consideration
and wind up their business at any time.
(7) Wherefore petitioners pray that this
petition may be filed and recorded as pro
vided by law, and when the same has been
published as provided by the statute, that
an order may be passed incorporating pe
titioners under the name and style, and
for the purftoses and with the powers
hereinbefore set out.
