Little Georgie—Huh 1 That’s noth ing. My mother keeps six boarders. “Oh, dear!” exclaimed little Sam my, whose clothes ure all mado ont of his father’s old ones, much to his regret. “Pupa has had his whiskers shaved off, and 1 suppose I’ll have to wear them too.” “Mamma,” asked a litt’/e three- year-old miss, “is papa’s picture torn ?” “Not that I know of, dear,” re plied the mother. “Why did you ask?” “Because,” answered the little one, “this morning he said, ‘Darn my pic ture!”’ Little Margie’s father is £ sales man for a baking powder firm, and one evening while repenting her •prayers before retiring she astonish ed her mother by adding, “And please. Lord, make me pure, like the baking powder pupa sells.” Aunt Mary—No wonder you are not feeling well. Harry. You ate too much plum pudding at dinner. Harry—That's not the trouble, Aunt Mary. It’s thinking of what a lot 1 couldn’t eat 'cause I had no room for it that makes me sick.— Chicago News. ALL OVER THE HOUSE. Importance of Ventilated Cleaeta and of Airing Clothing. A visit to a modern day nursery that is properly equipped gives a house mother many useful hints. One is the necessity to keep wearing apparel properly aired. In all well conducted nurseries tho clothes tak en off from the child in the morn ing and replaced by clean outfits provided by the institution are well shaken in the outer air, loosely fold ed and gathered in an open bag made of knotted cord. The bag is then hung out of the window or sometimes in large, well ventilated rooma filled with dry heat. At night when the child loaves he is dressed in these clothes thus fresh ened. The process is partly to guard against possible infection in the gar ments, but as well to air them thor oughly and get rid of the close, stuffy smell ^hat clothing worn con stantly in a tenement, room, where cookings laundry work, etc., ore car ried on, is sure to acquire. Personal clothing in any home should never be shut up in hermet ically scaled closets. No well train ed architect now thinks of drawing a house building plan that docs not provido for ventilated clothes clos ets. Bnt bouses built only a few years ago still have their scries of stuffy uttle boxes, airtight when the door is shut, dark, hot, moth breeding and altogether the most undesirable receptacle for wearing apparel or bedclothing that can be imagined. Such closets may be somewhat improved by having the door panda taken out and a fine wire grating inserted that will let in sir and a little light and practically keep ont dust. Even then clothing kept in them should be constantly taken ont to the dast'garment and thedoset left wide open for two or three hours to the sun and air be fore its contents are restored.
