A surprise party was tendered Misses
Sallie Leonard and Sherry Lewis at the
homo of Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Leonard
Monday evening by a number of their
young friends. Although they were
unaware of the coming of their friends,
the evening was passed off verf pleas
antly and highly enjoyed by those who
attended.
The farmers of this section of Dooly
ought to do what they can towards se
curing business from their neighbors
for the Cottyn Oil Mill this fall. This
enterprise will make thousands of dol
lars for the farmers by causing them
to receive a higher price for their
cotton and also for their cotton seed.

Co., has just purchased a large Old
Hickory Log Wagon from J P Heard &
Sons to haul piling with. This is one
of the largest nnd strongest wagons we
have ever seen in this market. Messrs.

Vienna second nine base ball club to

from Cordele Wednesday night with
victory floating upon their banners.
Captain W. M. Hammond, of Tomas-
ville, has been selected as the orator
of the day at the Veterans' reunion, to
be held at Cordele on July 4th, Col.
Hammond has the reputation of being
a fluent speaker, and will please all
who go to hear him. He is one of the
faithful heroes of the sixtie’s.

alto the nails for the Oil mill here after

road, was in the city Tuesday afternoon
He says he hopes to bo able to make a
deal so as to secure the iron to com
mence laying the track west of Cordele
about the 1st, of August. Our people
are looking forward to the coming of
the A. A B with great anticipations.

Through the kindness of Mr. Alonza
Walton a few of his friends enjoyed a
delightful hay ride and a real peach
treat Tuesday evening at his orchards
six miles out from town. The trees
were heavy with the nicest variety of
peaches, which were abundant. The
little company was brim full of fun the
whole time. On their return about
0:90 p. m. the party stopped over at the
home of Mrs. E. G. Walton where they
found awaiting them an excellent sup
per and a most pleasant evening. The
following made up the party: Mrs.
Gertrude Kinney, aud Misses Huff,
Carrie and Emmie Woodward, Carolyn
Roberts, Dora Walton, Cora Powell,
and Messrs. Alonza Walton, J. L. Tag
gart, Joe Smith and Rupert Stovall.
