' QSaL JACKSON AGAIN USA,S. THE EA3HERS, * ; Albany, Ga. July 33—Deal Jack- son, the 1 well known negro farmer, brought in his second bale of this year's cotton today. He brought Georgia’s first bale of cotcon to Albany yesterday, and told it for eleven sentsv per pound. This makes the fourth year in succession that Jackson has beat the state w.ith the first bale of cottqo, FAIR ASSOCIATION. One of the best things now on foot-for the farmers and merchants of Dooly county is the .proposed organization of what will be known as the Dooly County Fair Associa tion for the mutual benefit of the farmers and merchants of the coun ty. The capital stock to start with will be .$3,500 divided into shares of $35 each. By placing the value of the shares at n small amount a large number of the fanners of the county will be enabled to subscribe one or more shares. Already, sev eral of them have subscribed stock, besides what has been taken by the business, men of Vienna. If the matter is pushed along there is hardly any doubt but that the Association will be formed, as near ly $3,000 has been subscribed up to riate. Mr. O. M. Heard now has charge of the list and anyone wishing to investigate and take stock can do so by calling on him at T. P. Heard & Sons store. With good business men and sturdy substantial farmers to con* stitute a board of ditectors, the Dooly County Fair association could bs made au enterprise of untold value to both merchant and farmer, besides the joy and recrea tion to be derived from the annual fairs. The News would be glad to see several more hustling and progress ive farmers take stock in this asso ciation, What benefits the farmer benefits the merchant and vice versa. Let these two classes of industry come together and great good can be accomplished. Will you do it? A POOR MILLIONAIRE, Lately starved lu London because he could not digest his food.
