Willio Wilcox, col., about. 16 years of
age, was brought up from Cordele
Monday afternoon by Deputy Sheriff T
R 8mlth on a charge of forgery, He
fought some goods from A. 11 Powell
and had them charged to O. B. Parker.
The ease was settled after reaching
Vienna, by an agreement to pay Mr.
Powell for his goods and all cost.
3. P. Heard returned home Saturday
night from a trip to Colorado Springs,
•and cither points of interest in the state
of Colorado. On the trip stops of a
few days each were made at Kansas
<City and 8t. Louis, Mo. Mr. Doek
Fulllngton <ff near Hnehurst, waa on
the trip also. Mr. Heard reports a
delightful trip and has promised to tell
of some of the sights and' incidents of
his trip in a aeries of letters through
the News. The first one will probably
appear in Saturday’s issue.
Work was .commenced Monday on
two five room houaea for J. P. Heard
on the vacant lots north of the reaidenoe
of Rev. E. 8. Atkinson. Mr. Heard
■expect* to commenoo the erection of a
handsome two story residence on the
corner in a few weeks. He.Is also con
sidering moving the boose occupied by

In its place—making five new houses on
this block. This is one of the most
desirable lota In.the city, being on the
atreet from the G. 8. A F. depot to the
business part of the eity and about half
Way between. It will not be a hard
matter to find either renters or pur
chasers for any of these homes.
Mr. Kelly Sells Out.
J, R. Kelly sold out his interest
in the firm of Kelly & Walton to A.
E.'Walton last Saturday. Mr.
Walton in turn sold his brother, J.
B. Walton, a half interest in
the business. It has not been de*
cided definitely what name will
be giveh the new firm, but it will
likely M Walton Bros. Mr. Kelly
bus not decided whether he will
remain in Vienna permanently or
not. If he,decides to stay he will
deal in real estate for the present.
The News trusts that he will
decide to remain in Vienna, and
we wish the new firm much success

Forehand and C. R. Morgan who
had rented tiie warehouse building
of Johns & Forehand for this sea
son has been disolved on account
of Mr. Morgan having accepted a
position with Mr. C. C. Greer in
the warehouse business at Cordele.
Mr. E. G. Greene an experenced
warehouseman and cotton buyer
has rented Mr. Morgan’s interest
and the firm will now be known as
Forehand & Greene, This still
makes quite a strong firm and one
which will no doubt get a liberal
patronage,

On last Friday morning the or*
bitration of the right of wuy case
of the A. & B. railroad vs Z. T.
Penny took piaco at the court bouse
in thii city. Messrs I. S. Lasseter,
T, T. Morgan and R. A. Murray
were the arbitrators selected for this
case. The property in dispute is
what is known sa the ball ground
and upon which the railroad has
selected as their depot and side*
tracking site, about thrre acres
of which ia owned by Judge Penny
end valued at $1,000. After hear*
ing all the evidence Messrs Lasse*
ter and Morgan returned theii
value at $400 and Mr. Murray at
$500.
The case of the A. & B. vs W.
Turton was alto set for tital that
day, and Messrs I. S. Lasseter, J.
T. Carlisle and D. L, Ivey were
the arbitrators selected. The right
of way goes through the grape vine
yard of Mr. Turton and takes up
about one acre Of vines which he
valued at $1500. This was an ex
citing and a hard contested case.
Mr. Lasseter rendered bis verdict
at $700 and Messrs Carlise and Iv*y
at $1455.
We are informed that both of
these cases will be appealed to the
Superior court by the railroad au
thorities as the valuations are con
sidered by them to be too high.
