orgundy over pink. Miss Leonard
was assisted in receiving by Misses
Emmie and Maide Roberts and Ida
H. & Turlington of Sycamore, was in
the city yesterday and took time to
hand the editor a dollar for the News.

Wednesday morning and gave us a
pleasant call. He was feeling good
over the establishment of a new post-,
office in his community.
Mrs. M. E. Rushin and sister, Miss
Annie Laura Jefferson, and Miss Calla
Lilly returned home from Pinehurst
Wednesday afternoon, where they have'
been visiting friends for a few days.
Mr*. D. M. Woodward and little son
went up to Grovania Thursday where
they were met by Mr. Woodward. and
accompanied over to Hawkinsville to
visit his brother, Jno. M. Woodward,
for a few days.
Miss Bertha Leonard returned home
Thursday night from a visit of several
days to White Springs, Fla., and Har
lem, Go. She was accompanied home
by her friend, Miss Minnie Benton of
Monticello.
Judge D. L. Henderson went up to
Henderson Thursday afternoon -after
his family who have been spending
several days there with Mrs. Hender-
sonsjmrents Mr.and Mrs. B. C. ken-
drick, returning yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. Ed Howell and children arrived
in the city Wednesday from Hartford,
Ala., on a visit to her husband, who is
general manager of the Vienna Cotton
Oil Co. They will not move here now
but will wait until their new home la
completed. The News gives them a
hearty welcome in advance.

“Up Jinks,” was tho principal
game of the evening and Messrs.
W. H. Lasseter and Joe Everett
tied for the gentleman'* prize,
which was a nice watch fob. Mr.
Lusseter won out however, in
druwing straws. Misses Berta
Adkins upd Eva Penny also tied for
the ladie's prize, which was a very
beautiful letter seal; Miss Penny
winning out in drawing straws.
The consolation prize, a paper
cutter, was won by Mr. Joe P
Smith.
Dainty refreshments were served
during the evening.
