WHISTUNQ A TEXT.
The declaration ot St.- Paul that
he was “all things to all men**
seem* to be strangely interpreted by
many of the modern pulpiteers.
In Smyrna, Del., Rev Vaughn S.
Collins recently claimed the startled
attention of hit congregation by
whistling the notqs of the meadow
lark as he was about to begin his
text. *
He whistled four times, nnd by
some strange twist of the imagine,
lion made the notes fit the text,
“ThoU God aeest roe."
There are many who are itnpru
dent enough to suggest that a fool
was seen, and therefore the min
ister lost the main thought of bis
text—applicability.
This it a strange world and the
urn to which many ministers put
the gospel is strangely sacrilegious.
People would be better it - the
ministers . of Christ would give
them more of the old time religion.
Whistling in the pulpit is little
better than a song and dance
