A fisticuff encounter occurred at the •depot yesterday afternoon between J. B. Kelly and W. M. Thomas over an -account. They were aeperated by out siders before any serious damage was done to either party. T. H. Gregory, Jack Bridges and W. W. Collins of Unadilla, who were on the grand Jury, rendered exouses and were let off by Judsre Lltttlejohn. They returned home Monday afternoon look ing quite lv£>py. The two year old child of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Bradley passed away Satur day afternoon after an illness of several days. The remains were interred in the elty cemetery Sunday afternoon at •3:30 o’clock. The parents have the sympathy of their friends in their be reavement. White- head entertained a few friends at an •‘Impromptu” Social at their beautiful: home in honor of their guest, Col Brown Marshall, of Beynolds, The affair was highly enjoyed by those present. Floy L. Hester has resigned his po sition os clerk at the depot and accept ed a position with the popular firm of J. P. Heard & Sons, Mr. Hester has only been a resident of the city a few months, yet he has made many friends by the manner in which he has conduct ed himself. Success to you. Mia* Lucy Belle Harvard, who has held the position as telegraph operator at Moultrie for the past twelve months and who was brought to this city siek several weeks ago has fully recovered and returned to Moultrie lust week. We are informed that she has resigned her position there to accept a better one at BainbrMge, and left for her new home Suncrey. New Shoe Firm. A News reporter learned yester day that Messrs W. B, and K, R, Lewis had rented the store vacated by Kelly & Walton and will open up a first class Shoe Store in the next few days. The building wus cleanedup yesterday nnd everything Is in readiness for the goods which have been ordered and will arrive in a tew days. They ure prominent young men, and the Nsws wishes for them every possible success in their new business. Mr. W. B. Lewis is u prominent farmer and his brother, K. R, Lewis is cashier of the Bank ot Vienna. Look out for their announcement later. New Church at Snow. The members and friends oi the Methodist church at Snow met a few days ago and decided to huve the old one torn down and have a new and larger une built. About 9700 was mude up in subscriptions ut the meeting and some of the members huve gone to work to help secure the balance needed to build a $1500 church. Plans for u building 36x48 with a steeple at the entrance on the right side, have been submitted and they will piobably be uccepted and the work commenced right uwny. Advertised Letters.
