Mrs. Jane McKenney, the beloved mother of the writer, fell asleep in Jesus on the 7th, day of August, 1902. Her remains'were conveyed to the Wallace graveyard for interment where a large assemblage of relatives and friends had gathered to pay honor and respect to her sacred dust which her life had so justly merited. Her lingering illness was just three weeks' duration with that dreaded disease, consumption, She endured her affictions with great pa tience, often uttering words to God for mercy, She was born Jan. 13th, 1846. At the age of 13 she professed faith in Jesus and was happily converted and was baptized by her father, Rev. Larkin Joiner, was received into the fellowship of Union Springs Baptist church, after wards moving her membership to Harmony Baptist ohurch where she remained a consistent and faithful member until death. She was a Christian mother and was devoted to her children, always teach' ing them that which was right, fully consecrated, to the service of the Lord, her life beingone well worthy of imi tation. Only about six years ago Papa was tnken away from us and we were left alonb with mama to fight tho battle; and now mama has been taken to her reword and we are left alone. Oh! it was so heart-breaking to give up mama I We oannot understand fully why the Lord has so denlt with us, but we know that He doeth all things well, and wo feel assured that our loss is her eternal gain. We can only mourn her depart ure and await the resurrection of the Christian dead, when we shall again see her in the likeness of the glorified Lord, The happy homo circle is over and past For mamma dear mamma, has left us at last. She has gone up to heaven where all things are bright Where infiniteday exoludeth the night. Mamma dear mamma hits left u« and gone, Left all lier loved ones both sad and forlorn. The blessed home circle she now en ters in. . Must always be happy where there is no tin; For no pain or sickness, death or de spair Is ever permitted to enter up there. So let us all strive to meet mamma there Where freed from all pain, death or despnir.
