Burnett ot Colon, will be ordained to the full work of the Gospel Ministry, at Zion Hill Baptist church the third Sunday in October. Rev. J. D. Aa thia is my last round and my last year on the District, I would be pleased, to meet many of my friends and all the officials. Speaking spiritually, thia has been a great Methodist harvest in Dooly county. God has wonderfully blessed the churches. Speaking of material things, Dooly has been blessed far beyond many sections. It becomes us to bring an offering and come into His courts. Every church should pay its pastor every dollar promised—and every charge should meet all assess ments for edllectiona to be reported to the Annual Conference. On last Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hall, near this city, their attractive daughter, Mias Rosa, waa united in marriage to Mr. J. W. James of Cordele. Rev. J. M. Kelly of this city performed the ceremony. The bride is apopularyoungladyand her admirers were numbered by her acquaintances. The groom is a young merchant of Cordele, and possesses excellent business qualifications. The Niws wishes them a long life of happiness and prosperity. Pleasant Hill Notes. Rev. W. A. Conner filled hia regular appointment at Pleasant Hill Sunday. Mias Alice Barfield of Houston county is visiting relatives here. Mrs. H. A. Howard spent Sunday with.Mrs. C. G. Ward. Mri and Mrs. J. J. Coppage spent Sunday with Oavid Gamble and sisters. Mr. 0. T. Perry of Sigsbee, spent a few days here last week. Misses Ethel Howard, Kate and Mary Coppage were the guests of Misses Netty and Mollie Ward Sunday. Wonder if Pat, Ruby and Fannie got lost last Sunday afternoon. I will close with beat wishes to the Niws from “Wiia Fairy.’ New Morning Dally Paper. The Herald la really informed that in less than a month a new morning paper will appear in Amerioua. Messrs L. A. Morgan A Company, are the publishers and new material will be ordered at onco. Arrangements have already been perfected for editorial and other help. It ia to be a modern up-to-date paper in every sense of the word.—Ambrioua Herald. False Alarm. Our people were very much excited Sunday evening about 7 o’clock by the alarm of fire which was given down in the business part of the city. Some thing waa amelt burning by several and on seeing a light down at the gin, they began shooting, and it was only a few minutes before a large crowd was on the scene. Of course our fire boya were soon on hand and ready to fight fire, but it proved to be a false alarm. Masonic Puzzle. The News ia requested to announce that a Masonic puxsle will be displayed in thp Lodge room at the meeting tonight, and ail the member* are urged to attend and get the boni-fit of same.
