A Cnpuchln monk engaged In mis

Hindoo fnmily life, remarks that It Is
very difficult for parents to make ad

means of ridding themselves of too
many daughters by murdering them.
It Is a well known fact that Hindoos
of high birth, those Who are called
rajpoots. caused their daughters to be
put to dentil after their , birth by men
specially engaged to do so. This crim
inal custom bad become so general
that In 1840 In the seventy-three vil
lages of the Allahabad district there
were only three girls under twelve
years of age. mid three years later iu
the town of Agra there was not ’one
to be found under that age. All had
been put to death.
The English government hns very
naturally passed severe laws against
this abominable crime, lint to evade
them the Hindoos allow their girls to
live until the age of twelve, after
which they do away with them by ad
ministering poison iu smnll doses.

manner. Those girls who have been
spared they marry very early, gener

own choice, but by the will of their
parents, which Is decisive.

NOTICE.
GEORGI A—Dooly County.
After four weeks notice pursuant to
section 2546 of the Civil Code, f will
present to the Honorable Z. A. Little
john, judge of the Superior cgurt of said
county, at Americus, Ga., on the 29th day
of November, 1902, an application tor au
order to self tor re-investment at private
sale the following property, the same
being a part of the esuieot Mattie Par
ker, my ward, to-wit: Forty [40 J acres
of land in the south-west comer at lot of
land number one {>] in the Third [3rdV
land district ot Dooly county, Ga. The
proceeds of said sale to be re-invested in
and exchanged for thirty five [35]acre* of
land in the north-west corner 01 aaid above
described lot of land, and adjacent to said
40 acre, tract. My roaaon for aaaing this
order for sale and re-investment is because
the first mentioned tract of 40 acres is
perfectly barren of timber and has do trees
at all on it with which to keep up a fence
around said land, and no timber for fire
wood purposes, and on this account is
yielding scarcely any rental, while the
said last described tract of 35 acres Is well
timbered with good round ifmoer, suffi
cient for firewood purpose* and to keep
up the fence for year* 10 come, and the
(tie and exchange of said lands asked for
would greatly innure to the interest and
benefit of my said ward.
