The Dyspeptic’s Soliloquy.
“Good morning my friend. How
■do you feel this delightful day?”
“Why, sir, like I have- felt for
‘nearly twenty years,” tartly replied
the poor man, who was a choleric
•dyspeptic. ‘‘And for delightful
■days? There is none for me.”
No reply' .was made to the the
dyspeptic, usthe one who addressed
‘him continued on his way. He
being weak and despondent sat
•down by the roadside and began his
Soliloquy, which is a« follows:
• ' ’My God! Shall 1 ever see a well
day? Thou that notes the sparrow’s
tall have pity on a poor, gloomy
dyspeptic I O that I were that
happy bird in that blossomy dog
wood I My stomach pains me—my
■eyes burn—my temples throb—my
tongue is as rough and dry as a
brick. Though Hiave some desire

loathing, There is no remedy— none
'Good digestion, return onct more

trowns on me when I am the most
distressed.
‘‘Poor Job—his afflictions were
Urcnt—but it he had the dyspepsia
like I have it, I believe he would
have taken his wife’s advice and
cursed his Creator. Boils and dys
pepsia would have been too much
for the old patriarch. The Devil
would have won had he afflicted
■him with both. I um glad the devil
did-not think ol it. O my stomach;
It thumps like there were_n couple
•of live toads hopping ubout in it.
When 1 belch sour water, hot

A Thanksgiving Dinner.
Heavy eating is usually the first cause
-of Indigestion. Repeated attacks inflame
the tnucuous membranes lining the stom
ach, exposes the nerves of the stomach
producing a swelling after eating, heart
burn, headache, sour risings and finally
ontarrh of the stomach. Kodol relieves

no relief. My old stomach generates
enough wind to turn a windmill.
Death will come some day. And
there will be no dyspepsia there.
After I am gone the rich will con
tinue to oppress the poor,, the poor
continue to curse the rich—and the
politicians will lie, the women gos
sip, the owl hoot,' the dogs bark,
while the polecat will defend itself
in its usual amiable way; but what
difference will all this make to me.
None,”
