City court, which was to have met here Tuesday, was adjourned from that day until Tuesday of nezt week on account of the illness of Judge Hen derson; Judge D. L. Lasseter, of. the Vienna Public School, has returned from a very pleasant social visit to friends in Atlanta and Covington, Ga. The Harris Nickle Plate Shows ex hibited to a large crowd at Unadilla Monday and at Cordele yesterdy. They will probably come to Vienna some time In December. The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Ewell Brown died Sunday, and was buried at Shiloh Monday. Rev. H. P. Myers officiated at the grave. Of course the good showing up of the cotton crop is mostly responsible for this pleasing state of affairs and hence everybody is happy. The management of the Bonnair Price Conpany were well satisfied with their audience Saturday night, and, on theother hand, the people were well pleased with the play presented to them, and hence it turned out that all Misi Vannie Stovall is on the sick j list this week. Roy SUvjII returned to his home in Pratt City, Ala., last week. Hon. Pope Brown stopped over a short time in Vienna Saturday. Mr. and Mrs C. G. Bridley spent Sunday on a visit to friends in Pine hurst. J. R. Arnold and family have moved to Tippettville, where they will live another year. The.Houston High School, has re delved- a Spaniard far a pupil from Santiago, Cuba. Vienna was visited by a slight rain Monday night which succeeded in lay ing the dust to some extent. _ Dr. J. B. S. Holmes, the eminent specialist, spent a short time in Vienna Sunday on his why to Florid* J. D, Norris preached Sunday at New Hope, near Unadilla. Rev. Tom Bullington, a former pastor, preached for him Saturday. M, B. Bowen, of Findlay, purchased from Lewis Bros. Co. last Saturday sev en pairs of shoes. Mr. Bowen believes in being well shod. Mesdames Bush and Wilkins, of Col- quit, stopped over with their aunt, Mrs L. 0. Gwen, yesterday. They were enroute to their home after visiting relatives at Pinehurst for several days. Mr. Z. O.'Collins, of Macon, has accepted a position with the News. Mr. Collins is a young man well up in the profession and will be quite an ad dition to the paper. He arrived last Friday afternoon. Mrs. O. M. Heard, nccntnpnnied by her little niece, Mis Bessie Lawrence, who has been visiting her for some time, went up to Macon Tuesday, and from there Miss Bessie continued on to her heme in Talbotton, while Mrs. Heard returns to Vienna today. Sunday night at the baptist church the. audience was treated to a splendid sermon by Rev. E. S. Atkinson. This popular pastor is indeed a very capable minister , and is held in high esteem by his congregation and the people of Vienna. The streets presented a very busy scene last Saturday afternoon. A good sized crowd was in town and the mer chant* did'a very good business. Of course-this season of the year is natur ally a busy one, and our merchants are reaping the benefits of it. Little Marshal Sims Wilson, the bright little child of Mr. and Mrs. P. P. Wilson, who lives seven miles northeast of Vienna, died Nov. 18th. after an illness of some time of fever.
