Several people from Cordele came op and spent Sunday with relatives and friends in Vienna, returning on the shoo-ily. The News received a bunch of second growth grapes from W. A. Adkins last Monday. This is an unusual occur ence. Mrs. L. W. McKenzie returned to her home at Spalding Saturday after noon after spending a week here with her father, M. E. Rushin. Mrs. IV. II. Brown returned home last Thursday from Macon, where she has been visiting her son, Conductor Brown, of the G. S. A F. railroad. Rev. C. W. Snow preached an inter esting sermon at the Methodist church Sunday evening to a large and attentive audience. He filled the pulpit for Bro. - Myers. W. 8. Christian, of Lumpkin, arrived Monday to accept the position of sten ographer of the city court. Mr. Chris- ’ tain is also reading law and hopes to admitted to the bar in a few months. The arbitration case of the A. and B. railroad against W. L. Ross, adminis trator for the right of way privileges was decided last Friday. The arbi trators gave the Ross estate a verdict for <300. The Cordele News of the 25th says that the A. & B. crossed the G. S. & F. Monday, and that the first train passed OAer that afternoon. The crossing of the S. A. L. has not been made yet and will not likely be inode be mode soon, as the case may go to the supreme court again. One of the representatives^, of* the Nawe spent Sunday in Macon. Every thing in that small town is . moving along nicely, and it is a very edifying sight to visit Macon and see the long ■tacks of bejpd'cottop piled up in t Miss Annie Powell and friend, Miss Westbrook, of Cordele, visited rela tives here Sunday. Union Thanksgiving services will be held in the Methodist church Thurs day by Rev. E. S. Atkinson. D T. Mashbnrn, Y. T. Sheffield and Tim Whitehead, of Pinehurst, took in the show at the opera house Monday night. . Vienna will seem quite lonely when the shows are all gone and there is nothing no longer to go. Wo trust Mr. Hester will continue to secure good shows for the town. The first of a series of Saturday auctions of the stock of goods of J. B Cooper & Co. at Pinehurst took place Saturday afternoon.
