A policy in the Mutual Beiiefit is better than Government bonds, for it pays bigger annual dividends, and pays its policy right now, should you die. Mr. M. E. Rushin, special agent of the old Mutual Benefit, is doing a big Insurance business amongghe best busi ness men. Every policy holder is a friend to the company. Vienna is certainly in the swim in regard to marriages. It seems that there is an epidemic of them sweeping over-this section Just now. But with all the pretty girls in this town, it is a wonder thortfare not more. If youare going to take in new ground you should SEE MR. RUSHIN and secure a Disc Harrow. It cuts the wlregrass sod all to-pieces, and enables you to make as good a crop the first year as any succeeding year. ( As Christmas draws nearer, people begin making various preparations for Its coming. It is a great and glorious time for both old and young. Vienna is very much behind the times on sidewalks. We have almost every other improvement; why not have good sidewalks? Our dreams were disturbed very materially Monday night. Have order ed an improved army cannon for this midnight sleep disturber. The people of Vienna Will have the .pleasure of attending ano ther show at the opera house Saturday night. The name of the play is the “James Boys.” Col. L. 0* Benton, of Monticello, spent Sunday in Vienna, Col. Benton' is a member of Governor Terrel’s staff, and a very prominent citizen of Mon ticello. Comptroller W. A. Wright, who . is Insurance Commissioner of Georgia, says the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company, of which Mr. M.E. Rushin is special agent, is one of the Strongest and best institutions in the United States. The regular election for constables of the several districts of the county occurs on the first Saturday of Dec., according to an act passed by the leg islature. So far we have heard of 'no contests in any of the districts for the office. Those fellows who were incessantly grumbling while the good weather lasted and said it seemed that we would never have any more bad weath er, ought to have their pain eased by this time. From the present appear- onoe of things we will never have any more good weather. Mr. Hester, manager of the opera house, has returned from a trip to Al bany, where he went oq a combined pleasure and business nip. He was absent several days. We understand by a round-about way that several of the boys here are preparing to get on a regular “razoo” during the Christmas holidays and see a good time generally, A Good Disc Haryow is the ixjat pay ing impliment on the farm. It cuts up the turfs nnd sod and prepares a fine seed bed which is indirfpeffsable to the successful growth of ’any crop. The Osburn Disc Harrow sold by Mr. M. E Rushin is the best one the News has ever examined, In a former issue we said the mater ial had been placed on the ground for the erection ola new Episcopal church. Only the brick for the foundation work have so far been put on the- ground. We simply mo|ce this statement for the sake of being more accurate in the matter. The best way this town could possi bly spend part of its money would be to build some sidewalks on which a person can walk without getting stuck hard and fast iu the mud. This is an important matter and should most as suredly receivp the attention of the city council. Mr. Hester informs they News that he has closed contracts withsey oral Opera companies for engagements here during the winter, and promises' to give the people here some good entertainments if they will do thsir part and give them their liberal patrpnnge which we be lieve they will do, a Vienna is badly—very bodley—- in need of some better sidewalks. We might say that this is the, crying need of the town. In rainy weather, it is impossible to walk any distance at all without picking up enough territory to start a real estate agenoy. This is a matter fdr sober consideration. Since Colonel Bryan can’t any longer persuade people to believe that he it the Moses of the demo cratic party, and the only man who ought to run the concern, lie he has gotten into the dumps. He has soured on everybody and ev erything. This should not be either. Bryan is a man of brnins, though misdirected. If he would just get onto the right track, he could and would yet be a power in the councils of the party. But just as long as lie choses to hang on to the free-silver mummy and hug the skeleton of populism, just so long will he be u back number, shunned by the democratic party.
