Mr. Teat, an apprentice in the em
ploy of Paterson & Sapp, came n&ar
ending his life Friday. Had it not been
for a rib Sapp’s shingle mill would be
minus one hand today. It was the old,
old Btory, Teat had an “8” greased and
shining with new brass cartridges in
his inner coat pocket. He threw his
coat on a stump, the hammer striking
directly, “bang was the retort of the
careless-“8.” Whizz, went the bullet,
striking within one inch of his heart
The bullet was cut out from behind his
shoulder. Last accounts—Teat was not
dead. Will people never learn the
antics of pistols. Teat will soon be at
hfs post again, we trust a wiser and
more careful man.
