MONDAY S CAMK.
| The Vienna baseball team, composed
of some of the b st players in life State,
! went down to Cordele Monday after-
I noon, accompanied by several of their
I friends, to play the first of a series of
six games to be played this week, with
what has had the reputation of being
! the fastest team in the State,
i Well, the score stood 10 to 0 in favor

! The game was not characterized by any

j the “ kicking.’’ by lioth tennis against
the umpire, who didn’t understand the
I rules, and tried to “ even up things,”
so they say. on both sides. Well, that

Wednesday's game.
The third game of the series was
played at Cord hie Wednesday after
noon, which was by far the prettiest
and most exciting game played yet. It
was a rule laid down plainly by the Cor
dele boys that Vienna was to receive
her Waterloo! Why? A new pitcher
in the box for Cordele by tin* name of
“Dick” Grimes, from the Eastern
league, who is dow*n practicing up to
join Powell’s Atlanta team and go
through the same channel of Happy
j Harry Hale, Wild Bill Clark, Rheur
j and a dozen others. You won’t touch
! him. Those easy cunning balls,
j Vienna put up John Seagers to do
her twirling act. John is not the most
handsome fellow on the diamond, but
j when it comes to speed and curves ho
has more than Curricle was looking
for. Captain Pate will second this
