anything to help push it forward?
If not, why not? We have the
largest school Vienna 1ms ever
had, and a more earnest working
school connot be found.
The people from nil over the
county see the merit of bur teach
ers and are giving us their patron
age. Of the one hundred and
eighty-eight pupils now in our
school, seventy eight came from
tho county, some come seven miles
We have eighteen boarders, many

BOILER EXPLODED.
The boiler at the gin of Mr. D.
W. Sumorford’s on his place near
Midway, exploded yesterday
morning. Tho cause of the ex
plosion is said to have been too
much steam. The strange thing
about the explosion is that the
boiler was torn completely up and
two or three posts under the gin
house wore knocked down and not
a single person was injured. The
fireman had just left the ongine
and had gone to the gin house
when the explosion occurred or he
would have doubtless been num
bered with the dead.

The road law election in thi$ '
county yesterday passed off very
quietly. There was not as' large
vote polled as was expected by the
old road law people or these in
favor of the Alternative system.
There are 4087 registered qualified
electors in the county according
to the list prepared by the county
registrars and the new road law
people claim under the law passed
by the last legislature that the old
road law people will have to get a
majority of thoBO registered, while
the old road law people olaim that
they only have to get a majority
of those that vote. According to
the first proposition the old road
law people will have to get 2019
votes which they have failed to
do. They have however, an over*
whelming majority of the votea
cast.
The result of the election will
be announced today at noon.
The election will be contested and
carried to the Supreme court it ia
thought if the election is deolared
against the old road law people.
The result of the election in all
the districts in the county was aa
follows except in the first distriot:
