College of Agriculture, as a part of
the Hoover conservation campaign.
Some time ago, it will be remem
hared, it was announced that a con
test would be staged at the fair and
prises wonld be given to the woman
bringing forward the best recipes for
bread containing not more than GO
per cent of wheat flpnf, com meal,
potatoes, soy bean meal, or some oth
er similar product to replace the oth
er 60 per cent of the flour.
What the Government and the
State College of Agriculture is driv
ing at is the evolution^ an ideal
“war bread” to save wheat The
Government hat announced, howev
er, that no “war bread” would ever
be made in this country, but that
“Liberty Bread” would take ite place.
Consequently, it’s “Liberty Bread”
that the women will make in the con
test at the fair.

hre the rules: .
"All contestants must register their
names, addresses, recipes with the
Secretary of the Georgia State Fair
Association, Macon, Ga., not later
than Oct. 24, 1917, the redpei will
be kept aecret until after the pre
miums are awarded, and will then' be
published with the name of the origi
nator, for the benefit of the public.
"The Juliette Milling Company,
Macon, Ga., will furnish all meal for
the conteats, and will give each of the
seven successful contestents a bushel
of Juliette water ground meal as
premium, the Fair Association , will
furoiah the other ingredients, and the
stoves in which to cook the breads.
■Days and hoars will he assigned
to those who wish to enter this con
test, and the contest will be conduct
ed under the supervision of the home
demonstration department of the
‘State College of Agriculture in the
building on the fair gronnds, used by
the college for the exhibits of its var
ious departments.
"All war breads made in this con
tests to become the property of the
fair association, and must contain
not less than 50 per cent meal, and
other materials may. consist of flour,
peanuts, soy bean meal, potatoes, cer
eals, etc.
