Misses Bonnie Porter and Grace
Wood were week-end guests of Miss

Reeves is greatly improved in health.

Mr. Dennis Penny was here for a
short stay last week. Mr. Penny
gradated this year atfhg University
of Georgia from’ the department' of
law. He enlisted last week for naval
service and has been accepted.
Friends of Lieut. Chas. Bennett
will regret to learn that he has re
cently suffered an acute attack of
appendicitis. He was operated upon
Friday morning at the Base Hospital
at Camp Wheeler and is convalescing
satisfactorily.
Mr. O. W. Horne 'had the misfor
tune to get the bono in the middle
finger of his left hand broken Tues
day afternoon. He was helping to
unload some trailers when a heavy
iron fell on his hand mashing the fing-
ors badly and fracturing the bone in
ene place.
A trade consummated last week re
sulted in the transfer in ownership of
the house and lot on Church St. own
ed and occupied by Mr. J. N. Har

1918 cotton crop. Weather condi
tions were not fsvorsble early, this

The outlook at present is consider
ably more, propitious, the fields ev
erywhere are showing rapid growth
and the stands era much better than
they were hoped for from the first in
dications.
It is rather early for blooms to ap
pear, however, one large full one was
brought to this office last week by Mr.
J. R.C. Lane. Hr. Lane ie one of the
beet farmers in the county. His farm
work comperes favorably with that of
any other farmer in Dooly, and Dooly
has some of the beet Mr. Lane ex
hibited the bloom with a gnat deal of
