Another vacancy has been caused
in the school faculty by the resigna
tion of Miss Blanch Johnson. Miss
Johnson notified the board by tele
gram Monday of her decision to give
up the work here. The place has not
yet been filled. The hoard appre
hends difficulty in securing a substi
tute because of the scarcity of teach
ers.

The First Baptist Church (colored)
of Vienna, of which Rev. C. S. Wil
kins, D. D., is pastor, has just closed
one of the greatest meetings in its his
tory, having had 66 accessions to its
membership. Big baptizing took
place last Sunday. The pastor was as
sisted by Rev. C. W. Warren, of
Fort Valley and other local preachers.
Many of theboys arc war subjects.
Bethel church is the strongest negro
congregation in Dooly county.

regret to learn that she is Buffering
from a fractured ankle. The acci
dent occurred Friday. Mrs. Rey
nolds had started out of a doorway
when the heel of her shoe became
caught, throwing her forward, the
bone being fractured in the fall. She
is reported more comfortable today.
