Information that Edgar Morgan
has been called to Camp Wheeler for
special limited service has beer, re
ceived by his relatives here. Mr.
Morgan is a Dooly county boy but reg
istered at Lenoir City, Tenn.
A letter from Lewis Whitehead in
France to relatives brings the infor
mation that he has been promoted to
first lieutenancy. Lieut Whitehead
is very popular in this city, his home
town, his friends will learn with in
terest of his advancement.

daughter of Mr. J. H. Porter, of
Findlay and is possessed of many lov
able traits of character. Mr. Wood

illness at the home of his son, Dr. H.
A. Mobley. Dr. Mobley suffered
paralytic stroke. His condition is
considered critical.

WOMAN RUNS CAIRO SCHOOL
Cairo, Sept. 4.—The Cairo public
schools opened yesterday morning at
nine o’clock with a good attendance. I
Miss Annis Kelly, of Vienna, is sup
erintendent and the school year
promises to be successful under her
leadership. This year is .the first time
in the history of the scool a womof
has filled the office of superintendent.
The faculty remained about as it was
tasty ear. The opening exercises
consisted of several speeches by mem
bers of the board of trustees, and mu
sical numbers by the department of
music. The total enrollment on the
opening day was over 350. Many
more will probably enter in the next
few days.
