York police today declared war on
the gangmen who killed two of their
number and beat up two others,
during the last thirty hours, on the
lower West Side.
One of the gangsters has been
killed and another fatally injured i.i
shooting affrays.
Seventy-five detectives were de
tailed on the case today and when
the patrolmen at the Mulberry Street
station were relieved, they donned
plain clothes and volunteered to
help the detectives.
The police believe the underlying
reason for the shooting lies thq

W. Felnberg and one by Mayor Luke

talk at the Y. M. C. A.
Mr. Luke was introduced by Al
derman Bennett and made a short

enjoyed by all present.

Patrolman J. C. Sullivan has been
missing since April first, and neither
his family nor his brother officer*
have the slightest idea what has bo-
come of him’.
Sullivan was suspended April
1st, for absenting himself from duty
without leave. Relatives are afraid
that he became despondent and may
have done away with himself.
