Atlanta, May 12.—1c Is a sore lot of coroner’s jurors who sat with Paul Donehoo on the Phaga-n mur der rase. They served sir days and the pay they drew for their services amounted to 16 2-3 cents a day, $1.00 for the entire six days., Sev eral of them were business' men whose time worth about as much per minute as they got per day. They are not sore with anybody, least of all with Coroner Paul Donehoo, who is allowed no discretion under the j law as to how much they ar© paid. I The state law simply fixed $1.00 per Juror for each Inquest, no matter The lon-T the inquests lasts. manifest injustice of such an nr- ranzement is plain in a ease like the Phagan mystery. Mr. Donehoo is thinking of urg ing upon the legislature a change in the law so that coroner's Juries in Georgia will be paid $1.00 a day for their services. He Is afraid it some change is not made it will be mode dfficut to secure high class jury men. At Soda Fountain! or Carbon ated in Bottles. ! At . any rate it seems to be worth the while and ex pense of th people to try to find some remedy to exterminate them from thlr destructive work. Th© Jolly crowd, continues to hi themselves to the streams in tht section and enjoy the time in catch ing th finny tribe, which have been more plentiful this season than for quite a while before. The Sunday schools of this place will unite in holding their annual picnic on Thursday the 15th, Inst, It will be at Big Creek church this year. Coolidge has two very flour ishing schools this year, and they are expected to Join together In making the occasion a delightful one. If those having conveyances that are more than sufficient for their own families they will please confer a favor upon some of the children who have none. The town fathers have incurred the displeasure of some of the bi cycle riders by the introduction of an ordinance to prohibit the riding of them on the streets of the town. Some very serious accidents have happened by the practice, whlcn '.io doubt have suggested the passing of such an ordinance. Mr. W. J. White lias rc entjy pur chased a Ford touring car. Coolidge is getting to be a town of automo biles, as perhaps, she has more to her size than any other town in this section of the State.
