The picture was taken in 1868 in front of the old Court House, and the roster of the com pany contains the names of many of the most prominent men and mem bers of families in the city. The veteran editor, Captain Triplett, for whom the new auto fire truck was named, was foreman of that company and it is a fitting tribute that the newest apparatus should have been named for the leader of the reconst rue*.Ion half military, half fire com|>any, that was formed by him, with a double purpose, that of keeping order and fighting fire. These tomatoes are all of the finest quality and very sound They have been used for canning. Mr. Pittman putting them up in 2- pound cans. His intention is to market them and they will no doubt omniand a good pries. Several other of the farmers near town and in other sections of the ounty have grown fine crops of to matoes and are also canning many of them. They will be used both for home consumption and for mar keting. The tomato crop in South Georgia this year has been one of the finest ever known and many of thorn have been shipped to other markets, where they have sold well.
