San Francisco, Aug. 29.—-The San Francisco firms obtaining the contracts for two great floating cai- sons, to be used at the entrances of Panama Canal, were ordered today to begin work at once on one of the big gates. The cost of their construction will be four hundred thousand dollars, and they will keep two hundred men busy for one year. DR. HENRY G. HANCHETT COMES TO BRENAU COLLEGE. Atlanta. Aug. 29.—By the coining of Dr. Henry G. Hanchett to Geor gia to take charge of the normal department of music in Brenau Con servatory at Gainesville, this state adds another noted name to its resi dent colony of artists and musicians. Dr. Hanchett, who now becomes a Georgian, has been nationally promi nent for years as a concert pianist, author and lecturer. His work en titled. “The Art of the Musician,” is one of the best known books on musical subjects in this country, and he is a regular contributor to the leading musical periodicals. Dr. Hanchett received his early training in Europe and Tias spent most of his professional life in New York and Washington. In addition to his duties as head of the normal department at Brenau, he will have charge of the big pipe organ which has been rebuilt recently. In this capacity he succeeds Dr. Percy J.
