A despatch from the Governor's

death of S. A. Roddenbery, for Wed

This is only one month from tO-5
morrow, and will give the candidat
es just thirty days in which to make

will absolutely preclude the calling
of a primary by the executive com-
j niittee of the district, because it
would not allow candidates enough

Atlanta, Oct. ft.—That practically
every bailiff and constable in At
lanta carries a pistol habitually
though it Is against the law to do
so, *.s apparently shown by a num
ber of recent arrests of bailiffs in
each instance of which a gun was
uina's hip.
Bailiff W. A. Johnson, attached
to a Decatur street peace justice
court, lias already been bound over
to the higher court by Recorder
Broyles, and it. is understood that
similar action will be shortly taken
fn other cases.
It is said that those bailiffs make

time they go into the bouses of ne
groes or white people in poor cir
cumstances, to levy on furnitij/e or
household goods for debt.
