Stoe, the saloon keeper, dnd his wife, have been held for the feder al grand jury after the preliminary hearing, by Commissioner Colquitt Carter. The witness and alleged victim is a girl of eighteen years, named An nie Bond. She testified positively that the couple offered her a home and honest surroundings, and after getting her in their power, drugged her with beer, accomplished her ruin, and afterward profited by her shame. Mrs. Stoe on the stand admitted traveling from state to state with the girl, hut denied ever having taken any of her money. We have adequate equipment to put out a fire that hasn’t gained con siderable headway, if the water pressure Is ail that it should be. We have in some sections water mains, but the supposed protection is but a travesty and a delusion, when we witness such streams as on yesternight, on upper Dawson street.
