Sylvester, Ga., March 17.—A war
rant was Issued yesterday (or the
arrest of O. L. Dearlaon, charging
him with the burning of the Far
mers' Unton Warehouse here during
the latter part of February.
Immediately upon being arrested,
Dearlaon was released upon his giv
ing bond In the sum of 33,000.
The Farmers’ Union Warehouse,
ot which Mr. Dearlson Is the pro
prietor, was discovered on fire about
midnight, but the quick 'work of the
local fire department had the flames
extinguished before any material
dam ace was done. Later It was dis
covered that there were about sev
enty-five bales of cotton missing
from the warehouse, which were
supposed to hare been carried away
at night before the bntldtng was dis
covered to be on fire, but when the
cotton was carried away and where
It was carried Is still an unsolved
mystery.

bany, May 17th. The oratorical con
test for boys, between the ages of
12 and 18 will take place Monday
morning of the Chautauqua week, at
10 A. M. There will be other con
tests, one In reading for girls, be

another for music for young ladles

John B. Gordon Chapter, Daugh
ters of the Confederacy, at their
meeting last week, decided to ask
Rev. Osgoqd F. Cook, of the Thom
asvllle Methodist Church to deliver
the address here on Memorial Day,
April 26th, and Mr. Cook has today
notified them of his acceptance of
the invitation.
Mr. Cook Is a most Interesting
speaker and a man of high Intellec
tual attainments, and hla address
will no doubt be one of the finest of
those which have been delivered here
on that occailon, which la a aacred

which they meet to honor the dead
