Roberson, it seems, was employed

when told, Mr. Cooper is reported
to have told him that if he did not
do so, he would shoot him. The
negro then left, hut went back later
to Mr. Cooper’s house and made
threats against him and members
of his family, and started to attack
both Mr. Cooper and a daughter,
snapping a pistol at them, but was
finally driven off by Mr. Cooper.
Last week, the negro was
arrested by Deputy Marshal George
M. Harrell and brought to Thomas-
ille to jail. There are two indict
ments against him.

was arraigned before United States
Commissioner O. W. Franklin, of
this city, yesterday. Bond was ar
ranged for his appearanue at the
May term of Federal court.
Two other white men are charged
with complicity in the crime. One
of them, Fred Pittman, is being
held in Jail at ThornasvilJe, wmJp
the other has not yet been appre
hended.
The statute covering such an of
fense is a new one, having been
passed last year, and carries a
heavy penalty. The law states that
the penalty for breaking into inter-.

Frank case, in Atlanta, was among
the visitors spending yesterday in
the city on business.

ceived an X-Ray machine, and will
■use it in his practice here. This
machine is modeled after the latest
and most elaborate improvements
mado on this line, and is portable.
It Is one of the very few in this sec
tion of Georgia.
Miss Lola Overton returned last
night from her home in Alabama.
She was called home because of the >
sudden death of her father, last
Friday morning. Miss Overton has
friends in tho city who will regret
to hear of her bereavement.
