Meigs. Ca., May 21.—The crowd
was small but the enjoyment was a
plenty at the Meigs School house
auditorium last Friday evening,
when we had that Joint discussion:
Fence or No-Fence. Mr. Dun.an
Bickley was elected Chairman and
then the fun began.
Mr. <5. C. Lunsford was called on
first. He stated that his side of the
question was standing pat on the
Fence and Stock Law as It now
stands. Therefore, ho thought the
No-Fence side should open up their
guns first, hence he would reserve
his remarks for the last, or closing
argument.
Next In order was, of course, a
No-fence man, and Mr. Bud Single
tary gave us about fifteen minutes
of good talk, and
things he said:
unus.ally warm. However, the ex
perience will remain in th« memory
of those affected for years to come,
whatever tile cause of the poisoning
might have been. A narrow escape
it was indeed. We also learn that
Mrs. Wilkes’ colored cook had a
slight attack c. the trouble the
same afternoon, hut not so severe as
the others.
