TOM WATSON PLAYING POLITICS
Washington, May 23.—The Wash

ing news today as to whether General
Carranza, the Mexican Constitution
alist Chief, would send a representa
tive to the Mediation conference at
Niagara Falls.
Carranza’s agents hero are ex
pected to throw some light on this
phase of the question before the
day is over.
Jose Vaseoncelos, the confidential
representative of General Carranza,
who has been mentioned In connec
tion with mediation, Is expected here
today. If he Is sent to the confer
ence, his function probably will be
limited to telling the Constitutional
ists’ purposes and plans, but ho
would not participate In the delib

There would probably be ail un

not commit themselves to any pro

Verdict Unexpected to Becker.
Becker was shocked by yester
day’s verdict, which the Jury return

and five minutes. Becker, his wife

acquittal, possibly a disagreement.
The Jury had Its choice of three
degrees of murder, under Justice

these meant Imprisonment.
