Washington, June 18.—About live
hundred million dollars, which Is
now In National banks throughout
the United States, is available for
farm mortgage notes. This was the
estimate made today by Comptroller
of the Currency John Skelton Wil
liams.
This money will be loaned under
the provisions of the neutral
oerve act, which allows live-year
loans up to within fifty per cent of
the actual value of farms.
The Comptroller’s estimate la
based on the bimk reports, showing
their capital stock. The surplus of
National banks Is near one billion,
seven hundred and seventy-seven
million dollars. One-qnarter of this
ls^ available for farm loans.

Washington, June 17.—With the
establishment of the new Federal
reserve banks within the next few
weeks, millions of dollars in new pa
per money will be Issued. It will
be In denominations of five, ten,
twenty, fifty, and one hundred dol
lars.
The flve-dollar notes will bear a
portrait of Lincoln; ten. Cleveland;
twenty. Jackson; fifty, Grant, and
hundred, Franklin.
Green Ink will be used on the
front of the new bills, and black on
the back of them.
Commercial paper will oe collat
eral advanced by the various banks
as security for the new money. Ex
cept all future paper, the money Is
sues win conform with the type of
the new money.

made early today, near Tichuvodo,
Russia, to blow up the Russian Im
perial train. Emperor Nicholas and
his family'were aboard the train at
the time. A postal train, which was
proceeding the Imperial train, and
acting as the pilot, struck the
bombs which had been placed on the
railroad track. A terrific explosion
followed, and several coaches of the
pilot train were shattered, and sev
