It will be one large Insane asylum.
This startling declaration was made
by Dr. T. D. Aidormnn, a well-known
specialist In mental and nervous dis
eases, and who resides in New York.
Dr. Alderman addressed the Na
tional Electlc Medical Association,
which Is meeting in this city today.
Among other things Dr. Alderman
said that the numoer of feeble- ]
minded and insane now exceeds the
combined strength of the navy and
army. Among the causes which he
assigned for this state of affairs
were: Too much rush and hurry:
tobacco, alcohol, sexual excesses, and
the "turning of eight into day.”
Washington, June 19.—Represen
tatlve Underwood today told Presi
dent Wilson that there Is a strong
sentiment In the House for an early
adjournment. The President insist
ed that the Administration anti-trust
legislation should be disposed of at
this session.
Mr. Underwood said afterward
that not only would this bo done,
but the conservation bills would
also be pushed through Congress,
before it adjourns.

Womanhood Revered.
“There existed in the Egyptian
mind a sentiment that could almost
be called reverence for womanhood,
particularly In respect of its great
function of motherhood—a senti
ment which Is much more akin to
our modern Western views than
anything else that we meet with
among ancient peoples. The mother
was respected for her supreme share
In the life and upbringing of her
children, and for all the self-sacrifice
which Is essentially Involved In true
motherhood, and from the very ear
liest days the child was carefully
Indoctrinated with the duty of re
verencing and loving the motner
who bore and nourished him. So
strong was this sentiment that on
the tombs of the Old Kingdom, the
mother of the deceased, is as a rule
represented together with his wife,
while the father rarely appears. In
noble Egyptian families the general,
though not Invariable custom was
that the heir of the house was not
the eldest son. but the son of the
oldest daughter. Under the Middle
Kingdom, this rule prevailed to such
an extent that the Inheritance pass
ed from one family to another
through heiresses. He who mnrrled
nn heiress gained for hla son the
Inheritance of his father-li-law.
