No state has been disgraced and

Proof of tills fatal neglect is
found In the exeprlence of a New
York surgeon who recently studied
his case records In order to obtain
definite Information as to the delay
In the average case. Among his
last two thousand patients there
were 86 cases of cancer. Sixty-five
of these had never been operated
on, and came to him as new cases.
Of the 65 patients, 35 were men and
:;o were women. Further study of
these 65 cases showed that after
the first discovery of a tumor, or
after the first suspicious symptoms
the men had waited an average of
12.2 months before consulting the
surgeon, and the women had wait
ed 11.9 months: practically a year’s

interest, great at any time. Is enor

It Is remarkable In this age of
eager striving for private owaershlp

to restore them to their proper
place.
■Now that tney are la the posses

Is Immensely gratifying that these

The Wisdom in
Saving
A man who save* a dollar |s a benefactor. One who
teaches another to save a dollar is a Public Benefactor, and
should be knighted by the state. A dollar put in the bank gt
compound Interest takes root instantly; it Is not parched or
burned by drouths; not killed by frost or sleet. It can not
be Injured by heat or cold, by famine or pestilence, by fire or
flood. It will not be lost through a hole in your pocket, nor
borrowed by some pestilential friend or boon cmpanlon. It Is
beyond the reach of earthquake or llghtnlug, accident, sneak-
thief, thug or murderer. It works for you by day and by
night—Sundays, legal holidays and week days are all the same
to It. It will not wilt, nor rust nor rot, nor be eaten by
worms. It will sprout and mature a crop of Interest for you
every yoar throughout all eternity and then, be as fresh and
as ready to go on working for you and your descendants a* the
day It was first carried to the b*hk. It will be a slave 'that
