They ere trying to prove now
what a great big war really Is.
The state ticket Is officially com
pleted. now comes the final spurt
before the end.
Thank you, Uncle Sam can't find
a semblance of an excuse to get
into the big scrap.
Say, you President of the G. 3.
League, what players are eligible
for the post-season.
The Tribune-Herald has Just dis
covered that R. O. Cochran Is out of
the Senatorial race.
With an average of three runs to
the game, Thomasvllie would have
won the second ialf.
Wish they would scap around a
while and sent cotton up ten cents
a pound for a month or so.
The Tlmes-Enterprlse’a first “ex

hundred papers were sold on the
streets within a half hour.
VOTE FOR SLATON
FOR THE SHORT TERM SEN ATORSHIP
AND YOU CHOOSE THE WINNER
N. B. It’s the field against Slaton. He is the only
candidate running in every countjr. A vote
for him counts for him; against him it may
count for any one of his opponents whose
only hope is to deadlock the Convention.
JOHN M. SLATON STATE
N.B. Slaton is the winner because he stands for
the things the people want. Parcels post
is one of them. Rural credits another.
Also because he is the best trained and
best equipped for Senatorial service.

The Wisdom in
Saving
A man who saves a dollar is a benefactor. One who
teaches another to save a dollar Is a Public Benefactor, and
should be knighted by the State. A dollar put In the bank at
compound Interest takes root Instantly: tt Is not parched or
burned by drouths; not killed by frost or sleet. It can not
be Injured by heat or cold, by famine or pestilence, by fire or
flood. It will not be lost through n hole In your pocket, nor
borrowed by some pestilential friend or boon cmpanlon. It Is
beyond tho reach of earthquake or lightning, accident, sneak-
thief. thug or murderer. It works for you by day and by
night—Sundays, legal holidays and week days are all the same
to It. It will not wilt, nor rust nor rot, nor be eaten by
worms. It will -sprout and mature a crop of Interest for you
every year throughout all eternity and then, be as fresh and
as ready to go on working for you and your descendants as the
day It was first carried to the bank. It will be a slave that
neither eats nor drinks, nor sleeps, nor dies, and needs no
overseer.
The Investment of money In a savings account at THE
BANK OF METCALFE at compound Interest is the best Invest
ment, the most profitable business and the greatest and grand
