Germans Claim Victory at Liege

London, Aug. 10.—A Charlerel,
Belgium, telegram to The Daily Mail,
which was sent from the Belgian
city late Sunday night, says a force
of French troops arrived in time to
participate in the success of Gen
eral Leman's Belgian division over
the German troops investing Liege.
The correspondent said the French
troops reached Liege and, working
behind the Germans, cut off their
retreat. ,
The Germans are said to have lost
eight thousand killed and wounded,
while seventeen hundred prisoners <4
war were captured.
