600 GALLONS OF BEER IS
DESROYED IN COLQUITT
Moultrie, Aug. 26.—County Police
men Stewart and Cobb and Deputy
Sheriff Ennis late Thursday night de
stroyed 500 gallons ot beer they found
concealed In a swamp In the southern
part of Colquitt county. The beer was
located a day or so ago and had been
watched almost constantly since. In
the hope that the owner would go to
it. 1
When the officers entered the
swamp Thursday night they saw two
men standing around one ot the bar
rels, drinking. In fapt they were far-
gone, but each tilled up.a tin bucket
(nil of tho beer with a view ot taking*
It home. On seeing the officers, one
of the beer drinkers, according to
Policeman Stewart, reached back to

tbe officer fired at him twice. This
brought about a surrender end a

Mr. Lamar Braswell weep conducted

life unselfishly to service, giving freely

ers and according to all the rights and
prlrlledges, which any man would who
is living up to the Golden Rule,
was kindly and consideringly always
nnd his natrue was such as to inspire
and love. As a descendant of one ot
the old and influental families ot the
county he has measured fully up to
the traditions and principles of his
forefathers.

Messrs. John Searcy and Willard Had
ley have returned after a delightful
canoe trip down the Ochlocknoo river.
They made the trip In five days and
camped along th way. The weather
was delightful and the trip made with
out mishap. They returned via Pana
cea Springs, where they stopped for a
short time.

Young George Cocnran, who Is well
known to many friends here, has been
very 111 with pneumonia for several
days. He came very near drowning at
the time of the tragedy at Stone’s
Pond, which resulted In the death of
Gus Wlllfs, and It Is thought that hts

Died Sunday Night—
Mrs. James T. Kelly, of Camilla,
died Sunday night at 10 o'clock, at her
home In Camilla. She had not been
feeling very well for some time, but
the family thought she was growing
stronger every day. Her death was
very sudden and without any warning,
not even enough to call her physician.
Mr. and Mrs. Kelly were for many
years residents of Coolldge, and a few
years ago 'moved to Camilla, where
Mr. Kelly was engaged In the hard
ware business. She Is the daughter
of the late J. K. Phillips, of Dillon.
Mrs. Kelly Is survived by her hus
band and fourteen children, who are
aged from one month to 22 years. Also
hor mother, Mrs. J. K, Phillips; three
brothers, L. G. and J. W. Phillips, of
Maraianna, Fla., and E.' J. Phillips, of
Thomasvllle; two sisters, Mrs. J. O.
Carr, of Merrillville, and Mrs. John
Broom, of Star, Fla. Funeral services
will be held at Btg Creek church on
the Moultrie road, some time Tuesday.

D. J- Taylor, who survives her, has

about five years, and since coining
to this city has enfteared herself to
those with whom she has otna in
contact. A. Christian woman, and the
mother of several children Mrs. Tay-;
lor’s life has been one of usefulness
ami service to the world. She has
always been loved for her willingness
and readiness to help others and In

consider the church connection of any
one nppolnted to office.”
