This is a forward step In the pro

paper, and It la hoped that it will merit
the support and Interest of the citizens
of that community.
Coolidge Is one of tbe most progres
sive of the smaller towns of Thomas
county and has long fell the needs ot
some medium ot advertising and news
that would give Individuality to the
town. After careful consideration,
this plan was decided upon and ar
rangements made with the Tlmes-
Enterprlse for its publication In the
Friday's Issue of the Semi-Weekly. It
is believed that Its success Is assured
from the beginning and that in a short
time this publication may be enlarged
to occupy an entire page of the Tlmes-
Enterprlse.
The progressive citizens of Coolidge,
which has an up-to-date light and wa

an opportunity to serve In this ca-

several towns ot the county, through
the medium of that great agent—pub
licity.

LABOR DAY.
Tbla country was generous In Its
celebration of what Is termed Labor
Day. There were thousands of peo
ple who gave up tbe day fb a cele
bration, in which It was attempted to
bring more concluelvely tbe Ideals
of union labor to tbe attention of
our people than to exploit any parti
cular problem or perplexity that now
confronts labor and capital of this
country.
Tbe great musses of tbe labor un
Ions were called upon to lift thelt
eyes from the pay envelope and tbe
fair play, there would be quickly a
removal of the taint of sabotage, o
serfdom and of all of tbe Infections
and lnlqultoua evils that have enter
ed into the struggle..
The world respects labor but It de
mands respect from It end likewise
the pursuit of peace and bappltless.
We. have been perilously close to lbs-
Ing It but we beve sense enough not
to lay the entire blame on either
side and to believe that there are
evils on both sides It they are hu
man, which must be corrected as far
as human agencies can bring them
about.
A PROGRESSIVE SPIRIT
The Methodists of Amerlcus have
shown a spirit that ought to be con
taglous. The churcb edifice was re
cently burned to the ground and plans
were laid to rebuild on a larger and
more extensive scale. Despite all
sorts ot rumors of depression and In
stability, tbe plans are growing by
leaps and bounds.
At a meeting held a short time aget
at which It was proposed to launch
plans to raise one hundred and fifty
thousand dollars for tbe cburch build
ing. four gentlemen volunteered ten
thousand dollars each and two more
gave five'thousand each, making one-
third of tbe entire fund In less than
two minutes.
Such a spirit as tbat Is heartening
and delightful to see. When men of
means realize tbe good of a church
and are willing to put out sums ot
money in the erection of a building,
It shows that the city of AiJfiSrlcu*
has the right Ideals, and also that It
has men, whose hearts are turned to
tbe great good of tbe world and their
own souls. No more inspiring mes-
sabe comes to the state than this one
little meeting In Amerlcus, were six
men gave fifty thousand dollars
tbe building ot a church.. It goes
without saying that the church In
Amerlcus Is strong enough to raise
the balance necessary, without any
trouble at all.

is recognized, or subsequent events
lead tb the Identification ot either,
popular condemnation will be
greater and chance of conviction In
a court will be greatly enhanced.
Accidents will happen. Not even
extreme carefulness can always-arold
tbem, though most of them, are un
doubtedly due to heedlelsnes*. But
It Is cowardly to run away, and It lr
most unfair to others who use unto-
mobiles, (or It prejudices the public
against tbem when one of their num
ber falls to accept responsibility tot
a mishap of tbe road.
There Is a good deal of truth In
what the Ohio State Journal says If
the following:
After two ot tbe more serious Sun
day automobile accidents reported In
yesterday's paper, the persons In tbt
cars which Inflicted the damage kept
right on driving. One one case a wom
an was killed outright; In the other
three glrli were badly injured. Those
at least partially and probably chiefly
or wholly responsible for these tad
dvents did not even mtop to render
what emergency assistance the?
could. They thought only of their own
freedom from trouble and sped away
unknown. It shows human nature It
a bad light.
Perhaps It Is not to be wondered
at that the flrat Impulse on such oc
casions Is to Dee. Self-preservation Is
Instinctive. Some allowance mnet be
made for a man’s failure to do the
right and manly thing In a sudden,
terrifying criiie. Nobody knowe how
he himself would behave under eucn
conditions until be has been tried.
But It Is a tremendously cowardly and
despicable thing, after there haa been
time for eober second thought, to at
tempt to remain In biding. When he
has himself under control the right-
minded man la always ready to at
tune responsibility tor what wrongs
ha baa been unfortunate enough to do
other persons."
Be careful when a you drive a oar.
Insist that the driver with whom you
ride be careful; hot If an accident un
fortunately occurs, no matteV who
may be responsible for It, stop sad

RIGHT -FOR ONCE
In the recent vote on the soldier
bonus bill neither of the Georgia sen
ators voted, both being paired with
a ‘senator of opposite views. They
could have been paired with each
other, ai Senator Harris was for, and
Senator Watson against, the bqnus
bill. Both of these Georgia senators
had often expressed themselves as for
the bonus, but when Senator Watson
■aw that the money woe hot being
provided, and the whole effort was for
the. senators to save their faces and
pass the buck to tbe President, he
refueed to be a party to such fraud
and took a statesmanlike position,
even though It subjected him to the
unfair criticism of being Inconsistent
and unsympathetic with the veterans.
LOST, STRAYED, OR STOLEN
Has anyone seen, read any letter,
a^d heard any speech from Cliff
Walker lately? He knows that a big
appropriation, no tax platform appears
best when least discussed and Is lying
low, saying nothing and depending
upon the stupidity of tbe people.
