federate Treasury notes at the seve al dates
specified; one that the Kevenno Depaitmont
has adopted, and which they require to be ob
served in estimating the value of Confederate
monev. The reader will readily observe that
the Confederate money must he reduced to
currency and not to a specie basis,as has been
