THE BABY SHOW
On -Saturday evening was quite a
success, and the beautiful grove of
oaks in front of the Methodi-t I'arson
age, sheltered and was made vocal by
the sweetest little assemblage that w s
«wer seen in Thoiiuteville. Many
young ladies and genmouen attended,
with a goodly number of parents of
both sexes, and the time was veiy
agreeably spent, 'i he babies heard a
great deal of sweet talk, as al-o <1 id
the young ladies, and both seemed to
enjoy the occasion, for both prattled
in a lively mutincr, and wc heard hut
one baby cry during the evening
They were ail model babies, the pride
of their mothers, and not one inferior
spcciu cn was presented A few did
not come put, for what te i-on we do
Dot know, unless they were not pre
ten table ; but those present were of the
right sort, and promised w- II f>r the
rising generation We regret t - “ay,
however, that the “old bachelors'’ en
tirely backed out tronj the refreshment
proposition, aud showed a disposition
to let the babies star re rather than he
expeoac to them. The ladies had b< t

antics to please the babies. The young
Isdies discharged their duty, as usual,
kissed and prsised the babies, 1 >oked
sweet and entertained the charming
young men—in a word, the whole af
fair passed off in the most agreeable
meaner.
