feSOiSTRATION.
\Vc call the attention ot the voters

BAIN! RAIN!! RAIN!!
In our last issue we congratulated
the farmers and ourself upon having a
fine seasonable shower the day before.
It has rained almost eve: since, and
now we are having very unseasonable
showers, and heauy ones at that.

A GOOD WORKMAN.
We ask the attention of those having
brick to lap, to the card of our towns
man, Mr. George W. Darnell, who is
well known to many of them by good
work already performed in this vicini
ty. Having been brought up id his
trade ( and worked under masters of
the art in several Northern cities, he
has perfected his skill in brick laying,
and is now prepared to execute the
most complicated designs with the fa
cility and finish of the Master Mason.
APPLES, PEACHES AND
TOMATOES.
The most attractive little editoral
present we have had during the Season,
came to oUr sanctum yesterday in the
shape ot a stout lox filled with Ap< j
pies, Peaches and Tomatoes. The
month ot June brings our first Apples
and Peaches, and these come with the
compliments of Mrs. James Miller,
the excellent wife of our old fellow
citizen, James Miller, residing about
three miles from town. We return
our sincere thunks, and hope the or
chards and gard ns of our lady friend
may never fail to yield abundant har
vests.
CtayWc bad the pleasure of meeting
in our sanctum to-day, the pleasant
correspondent and agent of the Macon
Telegraph , Mr. F. F. Taber, who has
been on a tour through our sister State
of Florida and Southwestern Georgia,
for the purpose of increasing the cir
culation bl' that able and influential
journal. He will remain in Thomas
ville a few Jays, and afford opportunity
to those who may wish to subscribe or
renew their subscriptions to the Tele■
graph.
Correction. —A week ago wo sta
ted that it was the anticipation of the
Atlantic & Gulf Railroad Company, to
reach Bainbridgc with the extension
in Oct, her. Wo should have written
December. The work is going on
vigorously and the number of hands
constantly increasing. Wc arc grati
fied to learn, through Mr. J. A. Max
well, Chief Engineer, that the Ock
lockonee trestle and bridge are not in
as bad condition as they were supposed
to be; hut with some repairs will be
■ready for the trains. The iron will
tbc rapidly laid down to the river in or
der to use the ears in transportin'?
lumber for tho repairing of tho bridge.
Work Needed.— We respectfully
call the attention of the Street Com
mittee, to the impassable condition of
tho bridge at tho Railroad crossing,
near tho Baptist Church. All the wa
ter that falls on the Eastern slope of
the town, concentrates and passes into
the Railroad cut at that p dot; before
it reaches the Railroad, however, it
spreads out over the lawn or grounds
of rtie Church, and finally , -ks a bed
in the centre of Smith's A venue where
very ugly trenches have already ap
peared. A small diteli cut al -rig the
front of Mr. Ilirt’s dwelling, will ob
viate the difficulty, and save those fine
grounds as well as the streets, from
being cut into unsightly ditches-
Iw" 1 f somebody don’t bring us the
first watermelon very soon, we will go
and pluck one of those fine ones in oar
own. garden. Wc won’t believe any
body else has any unless we see them.
